How it works

Three steps between hungry and logged

No manual gram entry. No searching a database of 30,000 foods. Just point, shoot, and adjust.

1

Snap or upload

Take a photo of your meal or pick one from your library. Good lighting helps but isn't required.

2

AI estimates instantly

You get calories, protein, carbs, fat and fiber for every detected item — plus a confidence score so you know what to double-check.

3

Edit & save

Swap grams for natural servings (3 eggs, 2 slices, 1.5 cups). Totals recalculate instantly. Save to your journal and your streak keeps going.

Features

Built for people who actually eat food

Not a spreadsheet. Not a diet. A quiet daily habit that adds up.

Real photo analysis

GPT-4o vision identifies each dish, estimates portion, and returns structured nutrition — not a food-database lookup.

Everything is editable

Change quantity, unit, cooking method, or delete an item entirely. Totals recalculate in real time.

Journal by day

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. Long-press to delete. Copy meals across days. Your history stays yours.

Weekly & monthly trends

See average calories, protein, on-target days and logging consistency. Progress is direction, not a single day.

Natural serving units

3 eggs, 2 slices, 1.5 cups, 6 oz. We store grams behind the scenes so the math never drifts.

Private by default

Meal photos are yours. No sharing without your explicit action. We don't train AI models on your data.

Nonjudgmental by design

Streaks that support, not shame.

Gentle reminders, quiet celebrations, and the option to turn everything off. No red numbers. No "you failed today" nonsense. Just a tool that's on your side.

FAQ

Answers to the honest questions

How accurate are the calorie estimates?

They're estimates — usually within 10–20% for common dishes with good lighting, less accurate for mixed dishes and unusual portions. That's why every value is editable and every item has a confidence score.

Is this a medical device?

No. CalorieLens is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not guarantee allergen safety. If you have a medical condition or eating-disorder concern, please consult a qualified professional.

Do you train AI on my meals or photos?

No. Your photos are used to produce your nutrition estimate and stored only in your journal. You can delete an image after analysis while keeping the nutrition record. We do not use your data to train models.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes — cancellation is done from the Stripe Customer Portal linked inside the app. You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.

Which units does the app support?

Both. Choose Metric (kg, cm, g) or US Standard (lb, ft/in, oz) at onboarding — you can switch any time in Profile. Food items support grams, ounces, cups, tablespoons, slices, eggs and more.

Where does the nutrition data come from?

AI-detected foods are matched against nutrition data during analysis. Values are labeled with a per-item confidence score so you can see when to double-check.
