Nutrition & Medical Disclaimer
CalorieLens is an educational tool. It uses artificial intelligence to estimate the nutrition content of meals from photographs. Please read the following carefully before relying on any output from the Service.
1. All nutrition values are estimates
- Calorie, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium values are AI-generated approximations based on a photograph.
- Real accuracy depends on many factors we cannot see: preparation method, oil or sauce used, exact portion size, hidden ingredients, and food density.
- You should treat every value as a starting point and correct it in the app when you have better information.
2. Photo-based analysis can be inaccurate
Poor lighting, unusual angles, mixed dishes, sauces, garnishes, hidden ingredients, and unfamiliar foods can all reduce accuracy. Two visually similar meals can differ meaningfully in calorie content. Every detected item is shown with a confidence indicator so you can see which items are more or less certain.
3. Not a medical device or medical service
CalorieLens is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and does not provide medical, dietetic, clinical, or nutritional advice. Nothing you see in the app should be interpreted as a recommendation from a doctor, registered dietitian, or licensed nutritionist.
CalorieLens has not been cleared, approved, or reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Health Canada, the European Medicines Agency, the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, or any equivalent authority. It makes no claim of clinical accuracy or dietitian review.
4. Talk to a professional
If any of the following applies to you, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before relying on nutrition estimates for diet-related decisions:
- You have a medical condition (including diabetes, kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, GI conditions, or cancer).
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You take prescription medications whose action can be affected by food.
- You are recovering from surgery.
- You have a history of an eating disorder or a current concern about restrictive or compulsive eating patterns.
- You are planning a significant change in caloric intake for an infant, child, or dependent.

5. Estimates ≠ goals
Suggested calorie and macronutrient targets are computed from formulas such as Mifflin-St Jeor applied to the profile inputs you provide. They are approximations of an average person’s needs. Your body may need more or less depending on many factors. Do not follow calorie targets below what a qualified professional recommends for you, especially in special populations (children, adolescents, seniors, pregnant or breastfeeding people, athletes in a training block, or those with medical conditions).
6. Your responsibility
By using CalorieLens you agree that (a) you understand its outputs are AI-generated estimates, (b) you are responsible for how you act on them, and (c) you will consult a qualified professional for any medical or dietary decision. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CalorieLens is not liable for any decision made in reliance on the Service. Please read our Terms of Service for details.
